DeVon Franklin transitioned from a successful film executive to an award-winning producer, best-selling author, and motivational speaker, known for his impact on faith-based entertainment and spiritual guidance. After graduating from the University of Southern California in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a minor in Cinema-Television, DeVon Franklin began his professional journey with an internship at Overbrook Entertainment, working for Will Smith, and later held a full-time position there before moving to Edmonds Entertainment. In 2003, he joined Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer as a creative executive, marking his entry into Hollywood’s studio system. His career continued to ascend at Columbia Pictures, where he started as a Director of Development in 2005, overseeing hit films such as ‘The Pursuit of Happyness,’ ‘Hancock,’ ‘The Karate Kid,’ and ‘Jumping the Broom.’ Franklin was promoted to Vice President at Columbia Pictures around 2008, before advancing to Senior Vice President of Production in 2012, becoming one of the youngest executives in the industry to hold the position.
Recognizing his significant industry contributions, he was invited to join the executive branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) in 2016. He has also become a recognized television personality, offering spiritual and life transformation guidance on major shows like ‘The Dr. Oz Show’ and ‘Oprah’s Super Soul Sunday.’ More recently, Franklin served as an Executive Producer for the acclaimed series ‘Kingdom Business’ (2022).
