Xochitl Gomez

Xochitl Fiona Gomez-Deines was born on April 29, 2006, in Los Angeles, California, to Mexican parents. Her early exposure to performing began at age five in youth musical theater productions, where she participated in 22 full-length musicals. This foundational experience in live performance, alongside acting in student films, fostered her passion for acting. At age 10, Gomez transitioned into professional acting with roles in commercials and minor television parts. She engaged in martial arts, including wushu, and kickboxing from age 11 to enhance her acting resume and prepare for physically demanding roles, demonstrating a proactive approach to her craft.

Her career progressed to significant television roles, including her professional debut on Disney Channel’s ‘Raven’s Home’ in 2018. In March 2020, Gomez was cast as Dawn Schafer in the Netflix series ‘The Baby-Sitters Club.’ This role garnered critical acclaim and broader recognition, with Entertainment Weekly noting her “heartfelt frankness.” A pivotal moment in her career occurred with her casting as America Chavez in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.’ She auditioned at 13 for the role, which was later re-written for a younger teenager, leading to her selection after a six-month process that included a screen test with Benedict Cumberbatch. Released in 2022, the film cemented her place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as one of its youngest superheroes.

In 2023, Gomez further expanded her public profile by competing on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ season 32. At 17, she was the youngest celebrity contestant and, alongside her partner Valentin Chmerkovskiy, won the inaugural Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy, concluding the season with consecutive perfect scores. Her work has been recognized with awards such as a Young Artist Award for Supporting Teen Artist for ‘Shadow Wolves’ in 2020 and a listing in Forbes 30 Under 30 in 2022.
