Park Tae-joon

Park Tae-joon is an Olympic gold medalist and World Champion in Taekwondo, representing South Korea on the international stage. He began his competitive career with significant early successes, securing a gold medal at the Russian Open Tournament in Moscow in 2016, competing in the -37 kg flyweight event in the cadet category. Demonstrating consistent talent, he went on to earn another gold medal at the Asian Junior Championships in Amman in 2019, this time in the -45 kg finweight division. These foundational achievements set the stage for his progression to senior-level competitions.

His path to Olympic gold included victories over Mohamed Khalil Jendoubi of Tunisia and Gashim Magomedov of Azerbaijan. This triumph was especially significant as it marked South Korea’s first taekwondo gold medal since 2016, signaling a resurgence for the country in the sport.
