Dimitrios Skoumpakis

Dimitrios Skoumpakis is an Olympic silver medalist water polo player, known for his defensive prowess and significant contributions to both club and national teams. After securing a gold medal at the Youth World Championship in Belgrade in 2017, Dimitrios Skoumpakis launched his professional water polo career, establishing himself as a formidable center back renowned for his defensive prowess. He began with Glyfada from 2016 to 2018 before joining the prominent Greek club Olympiacos for three seasons (2018-2021). During his tenure with Olympiacos, Skoumpakis was instrumental in the team securing three consecutive Greek Championships (2018–19, 2019–20, 2020–21), three Greek Cups (2018–19, 2019–20, 2020–21), and two Greek Super Cups in 2018 and 2019.

He was also vital in securing the Serbian Championship in 2022–23, the Adriatic League in 2023–24, and the Serbian Cup in 2023–24. Simultaneously, he remained a pivotal member of the Greek national team, contributing to a bronze medal at the 2022 World Aquatics Championships in Budapest and a silver medal at the 2023 World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka. His impactful performance with Novi Beograd also earned him the Adriatic League Best Defender award for the 2023–24 season. In 2025, Skoumpakis returned to Greece, signing a two-year contract with an option for an additional year with Panathinaikos.

His continued international success with the Greek national team saw him secure another bronze medal at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore, further solidifying his status as an Olympic medalist and one of the sport’s premier defensive players.
