Disha Patani was born on June 13, 1992, in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, India. Coming from a Hindu Rajput background, her father, Jagadish Singh Patani, is a police officer, and her mother is a health inspector. She has an elder sister, Khushboo Patani, who serves as a Major in the Indian Army and is a fitness coach-cum-entrepreneur, along with a younger brother, Suryansh Patani. Patani pursued computer science and engineering at Amity University, Lucknow, but later transitioned into modeling. Her early career saw her as the first runner-up of Pond’s Femina Miss India Indore in 2013, which paved her way into the entertainment industry.
Patani made her acting debut in the Telugu film Loafer in 2015, where she played Mouni. Her first Hindi film appearance was in the biographical sports film M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016), portraying Priyanka Jha, a role that garnered her significant recognition and awards, including the IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year – Female and the Screen Award for Best Female Debut. Following this, she expanded her work internationally with the Chinese action-comedy Kung Fu Yoga (2017).
