Domhnall Gleeson

Domhnall Gleeson earned a Tony Award nomination in 2006 for his compelling role in the Broadway production The Lieutenant of Inishmore, signaling a powerful start to his acclaimed career. Prior to this, Gleeson made his film debut in Martin McDonagh’s short film Six Shooter (2004), which went on to win an Academy Award. His early work also included appearances in the British television miniseries Rebel Heart (2001) and further stage development in productions such as American Buffalo and Great Expectations at the Gate Theatre in Dublin. Gleeson’s career gained significant global momentum through his portrayal of Bill Weasley in the final two installments of the Harry Potter film series (2010–2011).

This period also saw him star in the dystopian romance Never Let Me Go (2010) and the Coen Brothers’ Western True Grit (2010). In 2011, he won an IFTA Award for Best Actor for his performance in When Harvey Met Bob. He further solidified his industry presence with acclaimed performances in Anna Karenina (2012) and the romantic comedy About Time (2013). A pivotal year arrived in 2015 with his starring roles in four Oscar-nominated films: Ex Machina, Brooklyn, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and The Revenant.

He also appeared in the satirical political miniseries White House Plumbers (2023). Beyond acting, Gleeson is actively involved in philanthropic efforts, notably creating the ‘Immatürity For Charity’ comedy sketches to raise funds for St. Francis Hospice in Dublin. Looking ahead, Gleeson is set to star as the lead in The Paper (2025), a highly anticipated spin-off series from The Office.
