Dr Robert Rey

Roberto Miguel Rey Júnior, known as Dr. Robert Rey, was born on October 1, 1961, in São Paulo, Brazil. His early life in São Paulo was marked by financial hardship, and he described growing up in poverty. At the age of 12, in 1974, he moved to Utah, United States, with his three siblings, an invitation extended by Mormon missionary Orson Scott Card. During his youth in Utah and Arizona, Dr. Rey dedicated himself to his studies, while also acting in television commercials to finance his education. This period established his determination to pursue a medical career in the United States.

Dr. Rey’s academic journey includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from Arizona State University, a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Harvard University, and a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Tufts University School of Medicine. He undertook a three-year general surgery residency at Harbor UCLA and completed a plastic and reconstructive surgery residency at the University of Tennessee-Memphis Health Science Center. Further specializing, he completed an aesthetic and breast reconstruction fellowship at Harvard Medical School’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He holds medical licenses in California and Florida and is affiliated with The Los Angeles Medical Association and American Medical Association. He serves on staff at Cedars Sinai Hospital and is the chief medical director of Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeons.

His career expanded into media, becoming widely known for co-starring in the E! reality series “Dr. 90210” which premiered in 2004. The show showcased his surgical practice, patient interactions, and family life. Beyond “Dr. 90210,” Dr. Rey has appeared as a medical correspondent on numerous TV shows including “The View,” “The Today Show,” “Good Morning America,” and “Dr. Phil.” He also served as a medical consultant for the Academy Award-nominated film “SEVEN” and has been featured in medical documentaries. Dr. Rey has contributed to publications like “The New York Times” and appeared on the cover of “Forbes Brazil” and in “Life and Style” Magazine.
