Drew Doughty

Drew Doughty has established himself as a prominent ice hockey defenseman, recognized for his comprehensive skill set and contributions to multiple championship teams. After being selected fifth overall by the Guelph Storm in the 2005 Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Priority Selection draft, Drew Doughty quickly made an impact, earning a spot on the OHL All-Rookie Team in 2006. He participated in the 2007 OHL All-Star Game and was named the league’s top offensive defenseman, receiving the Max Kaminsky Trophy as the OHL’s outstanding defenseman in 2008. His exceptional performance led to him being drafted second overall by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

In 2011, Doughty signed an eight-year, $56 million contract with the Kings, a testament to his value. He was instrumental in the Kings securing their first Stanley Cup in 2012, leading all defensemen in playoff scoring. He achieved his second Stanley Cup championship with the Kings in 2014, further cementing his legacy with the franchise. Doughty continued to demonstrate leadership, being named alternate captain for the Kings prior to the 2015-16 season.

His continued presence at the highest level of the sport is underscored by his recent addition to Team Canada’s roster for the upcoming 2025 4 Nations Face-Off, confirming his status as an enduring elite talent.
