Dusty Slay

Dustin Slay was born on May 18, 1982, in Opelika, Alabama. He spent his early years living in a trailer park with his mother and older sisters following his parents’ divorce when he was two. Slay graduated from Opelika High School in 2000. His professional journey began outside of comedy, working as a pesticide salesman before relocating to Charleston, South Carolina, in 2004. In Charleston, he entered the improv comedy scene and later transitioned to stand-up. After an initial attempt and subsequent break, he recommitted to stand-up comedy in 2008.

Slay moved to New York City to further his comedy career before settling in Nashville in 2014. His distinctive blue-collar storytelling style, often referencing his upbringing and observations, has resonated with audiences. He gained significant recognition for his performances, leading to appearances on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”. In 2019, Slay achieved a notable milestone by becoming the youngest comedian to perform at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. That same year, Variety magazine recognized him as one of their “10 Comics To Watch.”

His career progression also includes a stand-up comedy special on Comedy Central. In 2021, Slay was featured in season three of Netflix’s “The Standups” series. He later released his hour-long Netflix comedy special, “Workin’ Man,” in January 2024, which ranked among Netflix’s top 10 most-watched TV shows. A second Netflix special, “Wet Heat,” is scheduled to premiere in July 2025. Beyond his stand-up performances, Slay co-hosts “The Nateland Podcast” and hosts “We’re Having A Good Time” podcast with his wife, Hannah.
