Eden Sher

Eden Rebecca Sher was born on December 26, 1991, in Los Angeles, California. She began acting at the age of eight, participating in school plays and local theater productions. Her early career also included appearances in commercials for brands like Capital One and Fruity Pebbles, and a role in the 2001 short film, “Stuck.” In 2006, Sher had a recurring role as Gretchen in the Showtime series “Weeds.” The same year, she secured a regular role as Carrie Fenton on the ABC sitcom “Sons & Daughters.” Her talent was recognized early, leading to diverse acting experiences across different platforms.

Sher’s career advanced significantly when she landed the main role of Sue Heck in the ABC comedy series “The Middle,” which aired from 2009 to 2018. Over 215 episodes, she portrayed the optimistic teenager, a performance that earned her the Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2013. During this period, she also took on her first voice acting role as Star Butterfly in the Disney XD series “Star vs. the Forces of Evil,” which ran from 2015 to 2019 across 76 episodes. Her film credits include lead roles in “The Outcasts” (2017) and “Step Sisters” (2018), further diversifying her acting portfolio.

Following the conclusion of “The Middle,” ABC explored a spin-off focused on her character Sue Heck, titled “Sue Sue In The City,” which received a pilot order in 2018, though it was not picked up for a full series. Sher has since continued her work in television, with recurring roles such as PJ Fields in “Jane the Virgin” (2019) and appearances in “Lopez vs. Lopez” (2023) and “How I Met Your Father” (2023). She has also expanded into touring her one-woman show, “I Was In A Sitcom,” which discusses her experiences on “The Middle” and its influence on her life. Her recent work includes voice acting in “Chibiverse” (2024-2025) and an upcoming role in “Night Court” (2025).
