Unique entrepreneur Edu Giansante is a Brazilian community builder who is best known for launching E-Dublin, the thriving online resource for his fellow ex-pats who want more information about living and studying in Europe. Originally intended purely for Brazilians in or wanting to move to Ireland, it has expanded its scope as its reputation has grown. It has become one of the top five YouTube channels in Ireland, won Outstanding Website at the Web Awards, and won the Best International Experiences Blog in the World Award no fewer than four times. Giansante has also recently added another major position to his CV: Head of Community at wix.com, the global, multi-billion dollar software company. There, he is looking to help grow an organic network of fellow entrepreneurs and creatives.
Giansante was born in Sao Paolo and was never afraid of hard work — one of his first jobs as a teenager involved getting up at 4am to sell fish at a market before school. He studied digital design and interned at Intel, but he felt that he’d be better placed to make his mark on the world if he could speak English. With that aim in mind, he relocated to Dublin in 2007. He undertook all kinds of jobs and freelance work whilst also finding time to get E-Dublin off the ground. As well as guiding it to multiple awards, he has won a fair few accolades himself, including Community Professional of the Year at the prestigious CMX Awards. His first book, My Life in Ireland in Search of Purpose (And the Joy of Waking Up to Work Saturday at 6am) was published in 2020.
