Ekow Quartey is a handsome, talented, LAMDA trained actor, best known for his role in Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban which was the third film in the franchise, released in 2004. He has also worked on The Complete Walk: Titus Andronicus, which was released in 2016 as a 2 hander short film with Peter Capaldi for Shakespeare’s Globe, and This Way Up, a new Channel 4 series by Aisling Bea & Sharon Horgan first aired in 2019. However, it is Quartey’s stunning work off the screen, and on the stage, that really sets him apart as a talent to watch. His impressive work history include venues like Shakespeare’s Globe, where he performed in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Richard II, a whole host of performances for the National Theatre such as his work on Amadeus, Peter Pan and As You Like It and his role in Eye Of A Needle at Southwark Playhouse or Long Story Short at the Pleasance Theatre. Quartey has also been on several nationwide tours following a show, namely his role in the Absence Of War, or Spring Awakening, and he was present on the USA tour of the Barber Shop Chronicles, which began and the National Theatre.
Ekow was first nominated for the Ian Charleson Award in 2015, and again was honoured with a nomination as recently as 2020. Currently, Quartey is performing at Shakespeare’s Globe in the title role of Macbeth.
