On stage and screen, in Australia and the UK, Daniel McPherson has established himself as a successful actor and host. His breakout success came playing Joel Samuel classic Aussie soap Neighbours, a role written especially for him. After four years, he swapped Ramsay Steet for Sun Hill when he joined the cast of seminal British police drama, The Bill, playing PC Cameron Tait. He also performed to sell-out West End audiences as part of a four-month tour of Godspell in which he alternated nightly between the roles of Jesus and Judas. His most recent role has been in major Sky One Drama Strike Back.
In 2005, McPherson moved back to Australia and added the role of host to his resume, fronting his home country’s version of The X Factor. However, as a presenter he is perhaps best known for six years on Dancing With the Stars, the massively popular Australian counterpart to the UK’s Strictly Come Dancing. He also hosted the 2017 AACTA International Awards, a documentary called Killer Shark, and has guest-hosted Good Morning Australia. In 2011, film became another bow to McPherson’s arrow when he appeared in The Cup, a film about horse racing. He has gone to appear in numerous Australian films, drawing particular praise for the intensity of his performance in sci-fi flick Infini.
McPherson has won and been nominated for awards on two continents, at both the Logies and British National Television Awards. Away from television, he is a keen participant in marathons, endurance races, and “ironman” challenges, competing in events in Australia, New Zealand, China, and Hawaii.
