Miltiadis Tentoglou

Miltiadis Tentoglou was born on March 18, 1998, in Thessaloniki, Greece, and grew up in Grevena. His early athletic endeavors centered on parkour until age 15, when his natural talent for movement was recognized by Greek athletics coach Vangelis Papanikos, who became his first coach. This led Tentoglou to transition into track and field, specifically long jump. His career started gaining international recognition early, with a 5th place finish at the 2015 World Under-18 Championships in Cali, Colombia.

In May 2016, Tentoglou set a Greek national U20 record with an 8.19-meter jump in Kalamata, followed by a silver medal at the World U20 Championships in Bydgoszcz later that year. He made his Olympic debut at the Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympics in 2016. In June 2017, he further improved his national U20 record to 8.30 meters at the Greek Athletics Championships in Patras and secured a gold medal at the European U20 Championships in Grosseto with an 8.07m jump. His professional trajectory continued upward, joining forces with coach Georgi Pomashki in 2017.

Tentoglou has achieved significant milestones, including two Olympic gold medals in the long jump at the 2020 Tokyo and 2024 Paris Olympics. He also claimed gold at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest. Demonstrating consistent excellence, he is a two-time World Indoor Champion (2022, 2024) and a six-time European Champion, including a record three consecutive outdoor titles (2018, 2022, 2024) and three successive indoor titles (2019-2023). He also holds the Greek indoor record of 8.55 meters, achieved at the 2022 World Indoor Championships.
