Eli Goree

Eli Goree, born on May 26, 1994, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, began his acting career at six years old in “Sesame Park,” the Canadian adaptation of “Sesame Street.” His early career also included hosting “The Big Black Rap Show” on campus radio in 2003 and later co-hosting the CBC TV series “Street Cents” in 2006. Concurrently, he worked as a freelance journalist for “Canada Now.” Goree graduated from Prince Andrew High School and furthered his acting education with a diploma in Film and Television acting from the Canadian Film Centre for the Arts.

Goree’s acting credits include diverse roles across television and film. From 2007 to 2009, he appeared as Malik in the Global TV series “Da Kink in My Hair.” He also had roles in “Soul” and gained critical acclaim for his lead role as Jake in the 2009 stage play “Secrets of a Black Boy.” His television work expanded with guest appearances on shows such as “Supernatural,” “Emily Owens, M.D.,” “Eve of Destruction,” and “Motive.” A significant turning point in his career came in 2014 when he was cast as Wells Jaha in the first season of The CW’s post-apocalyptic drama “The 100,” a performance that brought him wider recognition.

His film career progressed with a notable role in the 2016 sports-drama film “Race,” where he portrayed the American Olympian Dave Albritton, a performance for which he received a Leo Award for Best Supporting Performance by a Male in a Motion Picture in 2017. Goree has consistently taken on challenging roles, including Joel Goodson in the Freeform horror drama “Dead of Summer” and Munroe “Mad Dog” Moore in The CW’s “Riverdale” from 2018 to 2020. He also played Derrick Mayes in the 2019 television show “Pearson” and Quincy Carter in “Ballers” in 2018. In 2020, Goree garnered significant attention for his portrayal of Cassius Clay in Regina King’s acclaimed biographical drama film “One Night in Miami…,” earning a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. More recently, he appeared as Conner Penske in the Amazon Prime Video science fiction series “The Peripheral” in 2022.
