Danish shuttler Hans-Kristian Solberg Vittinghus made history in 2023 when he became the oldest ever winner of the Danish Championships in men’s singles. The veteran player was 37 years old when he claimed the title, following a glittering international career that has spun nearly two decades. He is the host of the popular podcast A Year On Tour With Vittinghus – A Badminton Podcast, which follows his daily life on the BWF World Tour in badminton. The podcast has racked up hundreds of thousands of downloads and offers a unique insight into the world of a professional player and features many other badminton players and guests from the World Tour. He also co-hosts the podcast The Badminton Experience with fellow Danish badminton player Anders Antonsen, which covers everything badminton related from other players to the technical aspects of the game.
Hailing from Frederikshavn, Denmark, Vittinghus first made the world sit up and notice as a junior player, winning 4 junior national titles and two medals at the Under 19 European Team Championships (bronze in the men’s singles and gold as part of the Danish national team). He won his first international title as a senior player in November 2006 winning the Norwegian International Championships. Since then he has won numerous titles including the Dutch International, Spanish Open and Belgian International, and has been ranked as high as No. 8 in the world.
