Elisabetta Canalis was born on September 12, 1978, in Sassari, Sardinia, Italy. Her father, Cesare, worked as a clinical radiologist at the University of Sassari, and her mother, Bruna, was a teacher. She attended Sassari’s “classical” high school and later began studying foreign languages at the University of Milan. At the age of twenty-one, she left her studies to pursue a career in entertainment, starting as a dancer for Silvio Berlusconi’s TV channel Canale 5.
Her career began as a dancer on the Canale 5 TV show “Striscia la notizia” from 1999 to 2002. Canalis transitioned into acting with minor roles in films such as “Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo” (2005) and “Virgin Territory” (2007). She also took on television roles, including replacing Michelle Hunziker in “Love Bugs 2” in 2005 and co-hosting the Italian music festival Festivalbar in 2007. In 2010, she played a recurring character in five episodes of the TNT series “Leverage.” She co-hosted the Sanremo Music Festival in 2011 and 2012, interviewing notable figures like Robert De Niro.
In addition to her acting and presenting work, Canalis has had a modeling career. She was featured in the 2003 Max nude calendar and served as a spokeswoman and runway model for “Hollywood Milano” from 2006 to 2009. Her modeling credits include appearances in Vogue (Spanish version, 2011) and Harper’s Bazaar (Arabian version, 2011), as well as modeling for Roberto Cavalli.
