Eliza Butterworth

Eliza Butterworth, recognized for her role as Lady Aelswith in “The Last Kingdom,” has established a career in television, film, and theatre. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Acting from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in 2014, where she honed her craft performing lead roles in distinguished productions such as ‘The Daughter in Law’ and ‘The Witch of Edmonton’, Eliza Butterworth quickly established her presence in television. She made notable guest appearances as Holly in ‘DCI Banks’ and Lucy Hamilton in ‘WPC 56’ in 2015, the same pivotal year that marked her career-defining casting as Lady Aelswith in the acclaimed historical drama series ‘The Last Kingdom’. Butterworth masterfully portrayed Aelswith from 2015 to 2022, evolving from a recurring character to an integral part of the main cast across seasons two through five.

In 2021, Butterworth made a highly successful West End debut, captivating audiences with her portrayal of Princess Eugenie in ‘The Windsors: Endgame’ at the renowned Prince of Wales Theatre, further solidifying her range across diverse performance mediums. Her recent endeavors in 2023 include lending her distinctive voice to the character Masha in the critically discussed feature film ‘The Pod Generation’. That same year, she took on the key role of Carly Lord in the Sky Max series ‘A Town Called Malice’ and also appeared in the short film ‘Little Brown Bird’, showcasing her continued commitment to varied projects.
