About

Eliza Dushku was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on December 30, 1980, to a political science professor mother and a teacher and administrator father. Her film career began at age ten when she was selected from a five-month national search for the lead role of Alice in the 1992 romantic drama “That Night.” Her early work also included roles alongside acclaimed actors such as Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio in “This Boy’s Life” (1993), and as the daughter of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis in the 1994 action spy film “True Lies.” She continued to build her filmography with appearances in movies like “Bye Bye Love” (1995) and “Race the Sun” (1996), showcasing her versatility from a young age.

Dushku achieved significant recognition for her role as Faith in the supernatural drama series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” (1998–2003) and its spin-off “Angel” (2000–2003). Originally a three-episode role, the character’s popularity led to her extended involvement. In 2000, she starred in the hit cheerleader comedy “Bring It On.” She also took on lead roles in two Fox television series: “Tru Calling” (2003–2005), where she played a medical student who could ‘re-live’ days, and the science fiction series “Dollhouse” (2009–2010), where she also served as a producer. Her film credits during this period include “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back” (2001), “The New Guy” (2002), and the horror film “Wrong Turn” (2003). She later voiced characters in video games such as “Yakuza” (2006) and “Saints Row 2” (2008), and animated series like “Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.” (2013-2015).

In recent years, Dushku has shifted her focus, retiring from acting to pursue a career in mental health. She earned a master’s degree in mental health counseling from Lesley University, specializing in psychedelic-assisted therapies. She is now a certified therapist, concentrating on trauma patients and advocating for the use of psychedelics in mental health treatment. Her activism extends to serving on the board of THRIVE-Gulu, an organization supporting war survivors in Northern Uganda, and fundraising for programs like Camp Hale. Dushku was also named an Ambassador for the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show Entertainment Matters program, highlighting her influence beyond entertainment.
