Emily Austin

Emily Austin was born on May 24, 2001, in Brooklyn, New York, to Israeli parents and grew up on Long Island. She attended North Shore Hebrew Academy for high school, graduating in 2019, and subsequently studied journalism at Hofstra University. From a young age, Austin demonstrated a commitment to her Jewish traditions, including keeping kosher and observing Shabbat. A significant turning point in her early life was a Holocaust education trip to Poland at age 16.

Austin began her career in sports journalism in 2021 while a sophomore at Hofstra, initiating interviews with professional athletes during the COVID-19 pandemic for her Instagram vlog, ‘Daily Vibes with Emily Austin.’ This early initiative led to opportunities with major media outlets. She worked with MTV on ‘Music Lives On’ and served as a host for Sports Illustrated at NFL and boxing events. Her career trajectory continued to ascend with the launch of her NBA podcast, ‘The Hoop Chat w/ Emily Austin,’ in 2023, where she has interviewed notable NBA players including Josh Giddey, Grant Williams, Jalen Brunson, and Chet Holmgren. In April 2024, Austin expanded her sports broadcasting portfolio by partnering with DAZN for their boxing coverage.

Beyond sports journalism, Austin’s career encompasses a diverse range of roles. She has worked as a model and is also recognized as a social media influencer. In 2022, she was selected as a judge for Miss Universe 2022. Austin contributes written content to publications such as Newsweek and has appeared as a panelist on Fox News program ‘Gutfeld!’. She also serves as a presenter for PragerU. In January 2023, Austin joined the Israeli mission to the United Nations, where she manages English communications and public relations. Following the October 7 attacks, she became increasingly vocal against antisemitism, advocating for Israel on social media and visiting Israeli communities.
