Emily Kuroda, an acclaimed actress, was nominated for a L.A. Ovation Award for Best Lead Actress in a Play in 2000 for her performance in Luis Alfaro’s Straight as a Line at Playwrights’ Arena, a role for which she also received a Garland Award. A veteran of East West Players, Los Angeles’ premier Asian American theater group, Kuroda established a distinguished stage career, earning five Dramalogue Awards for her work in productions including Ikebana, The Maids, Minimata, The Golden Gate, and Visitors from Nagasaki. Her extensive theatrical engagements also include Chay Yew’s Red at East West Players and Winter People at the Boston Court, which garnered her an Entertainment Today Award, as well as Ken Narasaki’s Innocent When You Dream at the Electric Lodge.
Looking ahead, Kuroda is scheduled to portray Gloria in the short film Gloria (2025) and lend her voice to the character Matsu in the highly anticipated video game Assassin’s Creed Shadows (2025). Maintaining active memberships in the Screen Actors Guild, American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, and the Actors’ Equity Association, Emily Kuroda remains a dynamic and respected presence across stage, television, and film, known for her versatile performances and dedication to the craft.
