Stephanie Mitelman Bercovitch is an award-winning sex educator and entrepreneur. She is the only AASECT- qualified sex educator in Montreal, but more widely, she is best known as the founder of SexED MART, Canada’s leading provider of educational resources concerning all areas of sexuality and healthy relationships. SexED MART also has dedicated resources for those in special needs environments. Mitelman Bercovitch’s work in the latter area focuses on sexual education for those on the autistic spectrum and their families and has won her much respect. She is also part of the faculty at Concordia University in Montreal and is a consultant for both Teen Flare and Canadian Living magazine. She has appeared as an expert on various TV shows and news networks and was presented with the FirstTracks Award for Innovation in Sexology in 2013.
Away from sex education, Mitelman Bercovitch is also a prize-winning entrepreneur: in 2012, she founded Senseez Pillows, based on a vibrating pillow she created in her basement to help her son, who has special needs. This led to an appearance on the Canadian version of Dragon’s Den, in which she successfully won investment from one of the “dragons” and was able to scale the company up. She won the Female Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the 2015 Stevies for her success and sold the company in 2019, allowing her to focus on her vital work with SexED MART.
Unlike some sex educators, Mitelman Bercovitch keeps a relatively low profile on social media, preferring to let her work do the talking.
