Eric Allen

Eric Allen has transitioned from a highly decorated NFL cornerback to an NFL analyst and coach, sharing his extensive knowledge of the game. After being drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles with the 30th overall pick in the 1988 NFL Draft, Eric Allen made an immediate impact, earning a spot on the 1988 PFWA All-Rookie Team with five interceptions in his debut season. His performance steadily improved, leading to a career-high eight interceptions in his second year with the Eagles in 1989, securing him first-team All-Pro honors and his first Pro Bowl selection that same year. Allen established himself as a consistent force in the secondary, leading the Eagles in total interceptions in 1989, 1991, 1992, and 1993.

By the end of his career, his eight interception returns for touchdowns were tied for third-most in league history. Transitioning from his distinguished playing career, Allen became a respected NFL analyst for ESPN in August 2002, offering his expert insights on the game. He later extended his analytical contributions to Pac-12 Networks, covering college football. In 2019, he further applied his extensive knowledge as the defensive backs coach for the San Diego Fleet of the Alliance of Football (AAF).

His profound impact on the game has been recognized with multiple prestigious inductions, including the San Diego Hall of Champions Breitbard Hall of Fame in 2009 and the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame in 2011. He was also selected for the Philadelphia Eagles 75th Anniversary Team in 2007. Solidifying his legacy as one of the NFL’s prominent cornerbacks, Eric Allen has been elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame as part of the distinguished Class of 2025.
