Georgina Haig is an internationally known actor best known, so far, for playing Queen Elsa in Once Upon a Time, the multi-award-winning, internationally successful US fantasy series where fairytales come true; Henrietta Bishop in award-winning sci-fi drama Fringe, and Zamira in The Elephant Princess, an Australian teen drama that was syndicated around the world. Among her most recent roles have been co-starring in Australian miniseries Secret Bridesmaid’s Business and an Amazon Prime family comedy called Back to the Rafters.
Haig was born in Melbourne in 1985. Her Dad is Russell Hagg, who wrote the screenplay for hit early-‘80s film BMX Bandits. Haig trained in ballet throughout her youth, ultimately achieving Grade 8 with the Royal Academy of Dance in 2001. After a gap year in Vietnam, she enrolled at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, graduating in 2008. She made her television debut the following year in Underbelly, a true-crime drama series on the major Nine Network. In 2011, she appeared in Crawl, an Australian thriller that saw her win a Best Actress Scream Festival Award. Over the next two years, she would be considered for lead roles in major Hollywood films such as The Amazing Spiderman and Wrath of the Titans.
Haig made her US acting debut in Fringe in 2012. Two years later, she was one of the main cast of Reckless, an American legal drama. She continued to play leading roles in Australia too, including portraying Paula Yates in Never Tear Us Apart: The Untold Story of INXS. She then secured the role of Queen Elsa in Once Upon a Time.
