Eric Peters

Eric Peters is a former professional rugby union player for Scotland who transitioned into a career as a Chartered Surveyor and property consultant. After representing England at both Under 21 and Student levels in rugby union, Eric Peters launched a distinguished career that saw him make his senior international debut for Scotland in January 1995 against Canada. Peters joined Bath Rugby Club in September 1993, a period during which he also pursued and qualified as a Chartered Surveyor, gaining experience with a property consultant firm amidst the amateur era of the sport. His dual-track career evolved significantly when rugby transitioned to professionalism in 1996, solidifying his status as a professional player.

Peters was a key member of the Bath Rugby Club team that secured the 1998 Heineken Cup, featuring as a replacement in the final victory against Brive. His individual prowess on the field was highlighted earlier in 1995 when he scored a memorable try against Wales, lauded by commentator Bill McLaren as ‘one of the great tries.’ In 1999, Peters was slated to captain Scotland for a match against Italy, but his season was cut short in April 1999 by a shattered kneecap, sidelining him for over a year. During his recovery, in March 2000, he faced a further challenge, successfully overcoming a diagnosis of testicular cancer following chemotherapy. Following his departure from Bath and continuing his recovery, Peters joined Harlequins in December 2000.

Currently, Eric Peters remains actively involved in property consulting, leveraging his extensive experience as a Chartered Surveyor. Beyond his consulting work, he regularly provides expert commentary on rugby for BBC Radio 5 Live, sharing his insights and analysis of the sport. Additionally, Peters is a committed supporter of the Orchid cancer charity, contributing to awareness and fundraising efforts for the cause he personally overcame.
