Evelyn Evermoore

Evelyn Evermoore, a Thornton native, began their drag journey approximately three years prior to 2019, initially inspired by Morticia Addams for a Halloween costume. Despite an unpromising first attempt, the act of applying makeup and developing a persona resonated with them. This early exploration led to the creation of their drag name, Evelyn Evermoore, drawing inspiration from Amanda Palmer’s “Evelyn Evelyn” and Edgar Allan Poe’s “Nevermore.” This period was crucial in shaping their confidence and public persona, transitioning from an introverted individual to a performer who actively connects with audiences.

Over the years, Evermoore has achieved several notable milestones. In 2017, they won Denver’s Ultimate Queen challenge. Their skills extend beyond performance, as they are also a seamstress, designing and making all of their own costumes. This talent led to a significant collaboration where they created over 30 costumes for Yvie Oddly, a Denver drag queen who later won Season 11 of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Evermoore has also engaged in public speaking, specifically discussing the business aspects of drag at Denver Startup Week, where they shared insights on brand development and the strategic use of social media in the drag community. This demonstrated their entrepreneurial approach to their artistry.

Evelyn Evermoore continues to evolve their craft and contribute to the queer community. They have ventured into producing shows, including “Stoopid,” an improv comedy show that blends humor with audience interaction. Their commitment to their community and personal well-being is further evidenced by their efforts to promote sobriety within the queer community, reflecting a dedication to mental health alongside artistic endeavors. Evermoore’s journey from a hesitant Halloween costume wearer to an award-winning drag queen and skilled designer illustrates a steady progression in both personal growth and professional achievement.
