Derrick Barry

Derrick Prentice Barry was born on July 18, 1983, in Modesto, California. Barry’s career began with a notable resemblance to Britney Spears. In 2003, Barry first dressed as Spears for Halloween and two weeks later, appeared in drag at an audience for “The Tonight Show” where Spears was a guest. This early period established the foundation for a career focused on impersonation. In 2010, Barry was recognized for anti-bullying efforts, receiving the Miss Don’t H8 DIVA title and several awards including the Hall of Fame and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National anti-bullying organization Don’t H8.

Barry gained public attention in 2008 by competing on the third season of “America’s Got Talent” as a Britney Spears impersonator, advancing through auditions before being eliminated in the quarterfinals. Following this, Barry appeared in music videos for Eminem’s “We Made You” (2009) and Katy Perry’s “Waking Up in Vegas” (2009), portraying Britney Spears. A significant moment occurred in 2015 when Barry was brought on stage by Madonna during her Rebel Heart Tour. In 2016, Barry competed on the eighth season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” becoming the one-hundredth queen to appear on the show and finishing in fifth place. This was followed by an appearance in “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” Season 5 in 2020, where Barry placed tenth.

Beyond reality television, Barry’s acting credits include roles in the TV series “Dig” (2015) as Julie, “Sharknado: The 4th Awakens” (2016), and as Kimberly in “War on Everyone” (2016). Barry has also been a part of various stage productions, including “Divas Las Vegas” and “Drag Queen Cuisine” in Las Vegas. From January to August 2020, Barry was a rotating cast member in “RuPaul’s Drag Race Live!” at the Flamingo Las Vegas and performed with Katy Perry during her Play concert residency in 2022. Barry released the single “BOOMBOOM” with Chris Cox in 2016.
