Professional ballet dancer turned drag performer Lady Camden turned heads on the 14th season of RuPaul’s Drag Race and finished runner-up on the show. Effortlessly blending American Charm and British grit, she offered the best of both worlds along with tons of talent all delivered like a lady. Born in the UK but now living in Sacramento as America’s own spice girl, the professional ballerina meets 90’s pop starlet is just as happy being trash from Camden Town as she is being regal and refined.
Growing up as Rex Wheeler in Camden Town, London, Lady Camden would meet her dad at the Electric Ballroom where her father worked and would roller skate and dance around the night club, surrounded by club kids with piercings, neon colours and crazy hair. After initially taking a more classical route into the arts as a professional ballet dancer for the Slovak National Ballet, Lady Camden was injured whilst working in San Francisco and traded ballet for drag.
As a trained ballet dancer, Lady Camden’s talent was apparent from the very first episode of Ru Paul’s Drag Race Season 14. Although quiet at first amongst the show’s big personalities, Lady Camden came into her own during the second half of the season and soon commanded attention from both her fellow competitors and the judges. By the time she reached the final stretch, the glamorous diva had become a fan-favourite. After storming to second-place on Drag Race she’s now ready to take on the world, serving sass and class and living her pop princess fantasy.
