Everette Taylor was born on June 23, 1989, in Richmond, Virginia. He experienced homelessness during high school but successfully graduated before enrolling at Virginia Tech to study computer engineering. Circumstances led him to drop out of college to support his family. At the age of 19, he started his first company, an event marketing software venture called Eventuosity, which he successfully sold two years later. These early experiences shaped his focus on accessibility and diversity in the technology sector.
His career advanced rapidly, showcasing his ability to build and scale multi-million dollar brands. After leaving college, he became the VP of Marketing at Qualaroo, a behavioral insight software company that was later acquired. In 2013, he co-founded GrowthHackers with Sean Ellis, building it into a central hub for startup growth professionals. Taylor founded PopSocial in 2016, a social media marketing software company that generated over $2 million in its first year, serving clients such as Microsoft and NASA. In 2018, he established ET Enterprises, a holding company that oversees a diverse portfolio of businesses, including MilliSense and ArtX. That same year, he partnered with actress Zoe Saldaña to launch the media platform BESE and co-founded Hayver, an app focused on drug and alcohol addiction prevention.
In September 2022, Taylor was appointed CEO of Kickstarter, the world’s leading crowdfunding platform for creative projects. He has been instrumental in revamping Kickstarter’s brand identity. His work has earned him significant recognition, including being named Black Enterprise Magazine’s “Social Media Influencer of the Year” in 2016, inclusion in The Root’s Root 100 list in 2017, and being recognized on Forbes’ “30 Under 30” list for Marketing & Advertising in 2018.
