Fairuza Balk is an American actress, musician, and visual artist, recognized for her portrayals of distinctive characters in both independent and blockbuster films. After being chosen from 1,200 girls to star as Dorothy in the Walt Disney Company’s ‘Return to Oz’ (1985), Fairuza Balk quickly established herself as a formidable talent in film. She had made her screen debut in the ABC special ‘The Best Christmas Pageant Ever’ (1983). Following her acclaimed role in the Disney feature, Balk further honed her craft through studies in the United Kingdom at the Royal Academy of Ballet and the Bush Davies Performing Arts School.
