Florian Munteanu

Florian Munteanu was born on October 13, 1990, in Würzburg, Germany, to Romanian parents. His early life was influenced by his father, a former boxer and dermatologist, which led Florian into boxing and fitness. He pursued higher education at Hochschule Mittweida, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2014, with his thesis focusing on the structure and organization of boxing in Germany compared to the USA. Munteanu cultivated a reputation as “Big Nasty” in the boxing world, showcasing a powerful physical presence that would later become a hallmark of his acting career.

Munteanu’s acting debut came in 2016 with the German-Romanian short film “Bogat,” where he played Razvan. His breakthrough arrived in 2018 when Sylvester Stallone discovered his training videos online and cast him as Viktor Drago, the antagonist’s son, in “Creed II.” This role required him to adjust his physique, shedding approximately 20 pounds from his 6-foot-4, 255-pound frame. Munteanu reprised his role as Viktor Drago in “Creed III” in 2023, further solidifying his place in the sports drama genre.

His career expanded significantly into major Hollywood productions, including portraying Razor Fist in Marvel’s “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” in 2021 and Kauffman in “The Contractor” in 2022. Munteanu also joined the cast of Netflix’s historical drama series “Vikings: Valhalla” in 2024 as General Georgios Maniakes and is set to appear as Krieg in the 2024 film “Borderlands.” Munteanu’s demanding training regimen, including focusing on abs four times a day for 40-45 minutes, contributes to his notable physique, which has been featured on the covers of “Muscle & Fitness” (October 2018) and “Men’s Health” (December 2018).
