Francis Karel

Francis Karel was born in Jakarta, Indonesia, and later relocated to Los Angeles, California, to pursue a career in music. Early in his career, between 2016 and 2017, he collaborated with Grammy-winning producers in New York as a writer. His song “Little Boy” gained significant attention, accumulating 2.9 million views on YouTube and reaching number one on the Indonesian radio charts in January, maintaining a position in the Top 10.

Karel composes his own songs, directs arrangements, and creates vocal harmonies for his music. His work has attracted interest from other artists in Indonesia, leading to his involvement in two projects reaching over 500 million listeners within the country. His musical influences include artists such as Lauv, Ed Sheeran, Julia Michaels, Alessia Cara, and Tori Kelly, with vocal inspirations drawn from Beyoncé and Chris Martin. He primarily uses the piano for songwriting and has expanded to guitar to introduce varied moods to his music.

Currently, Francis Karel is working on his own music and collaborating with other artists while also completing an Associate’s Degree in the Songwriting program at Los Angeles College of Music. His career progression has involved leveraging platforms like Omegle, where he garnered a substantial following, including over 2.3 million followers on TikTok and nearly 800,000 on Instagram. He has also received recognition through collaborations with established artists like Andy Grammer and Tori Kelly, further boosting his public profile.
