Frank Reich

Frank Michael Reich was born on December 4, 1961, in Freeport, New York. He pursued a robust high school athletic career at Cedar Crest High School in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, participating in baseball, football, and basketball. After high school, Reich attended the University of Maryland on an athletic scholarship, playing for the Maryland Terrapins football team. During his college career, he famously led a significant comeback against the Miami Hurricanes in 1984, overcoming a 31-0 halftime deficit to win 42-40, marking what was then the largest comeback in NCAA history. He was selected by the Buffalo Bills in the third round of the 1985 NFL draft.

Reich spent a significant part of his playing career as a backup quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, notably stepping in for Jim Kelly. He gained national recognition for leading the Bills in the NFL’s largest postseason comeback during the 1992–93 NFL playoffs, where they overcame a 32-point deficit against the Houston Oilers. Following his time with the Bills, he played for the Carolina Panthers, New York Jets, and Detroit Lions before retiring from his playing career after the 1998 NFL season. His experience as a player, particularly his ability to lead dramatic comebacks, laid a foundation for his future leadership roles.

Transitioning to coaching, Reich held various assistant positions before becoming the offensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles from 2016 to 2017. In this role, he contributed to the team’s victory in Super Bowl LII. He then became head coach for the Indianapolis Colts from 2018 to 2022, guiding them to two playoff appearances. Subsequently, he served as the head coach for the Carolina Panthers in 2023 and was later appointed as the interim head coach at Stanford University in 2025. Throughout his career, Reich has also been a motivational speaker, integrating his experiences and faith into his talks.
