Geno Segers

Lonnie G. “Geno” Segers Jr. was born on November 28, 1976, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, U.S. Standing 6 feet 4 inches tall, Segers engaged in various athletic pursuits during his formative years, including American football, wrestling, and track and field. He played American football at Western Carolina University. Following his collegiate athletic career, he transitioned to professional rugby league, playing for the American National Rugby League and earning two caps for the United States national rugby league team in 1995 against the Wales national rugby league team. Subsequently, he relocated to New Zealand, where he continued his rugby league career with the Richmond Rovers team. His early career path unexpectedly shifted towards entertainment after a friend suggested he try voice-work, capitalizing on his naturally deep bass voice.

Segers’ entry into the entertainment industry began with voice advertisements for a New Zealand radio station. The distinctive quality of his voice attracted the attention of an agent, which led to his casting as Mufasa in the stage production of Disney’s “The Lion King” in Australia. He later reprised this role in both American and Chinese productions, marking a significant milestone in his acting career. In 2010, Segers secured a main role as Mason Makoola in the Disney XD television series “Pair of Kings,” appearing in 52 episodes. His television credits expanded with roles such as Kincaid on MTV’s “Teen Wolf” (2014) and later gained notable recognition for his role as Chayton Littlestone in Cinemax’s “Banshee” (2014–2015) for 12 episodes.

Further demonstrating his versatility, Segers has taken on various roles across film, television, and video games. His film appearances include “Bone Tomahawk” (2015), “Brawl in Cell Block 99” (2017), and “Journey to Bethlehem” (2023). On television, he was Cco-host of “Fort Boyard: Ultimate Challenge” for two seasons (2011–2012) and played Dwayne in NBC’s “Perfect Harmony” (2019–2020) for 13 episodes. In the video game industry, he voiced Galactus in “Fortnite” (2017) and Hekarro in “Horizon Forbidden West” (2022), showcasing his prominent voice acting capabilities. Segers also established the “Hold It On The Road” foundation, focusing on motivational speaking to encourage youth in making positive life choices.
