Kade Gottlieb, commercially known as Gottmik, was born on August 19, 1996, in Scottsdale, Arizona. Gottlieb later relocated to Los Angeles, California, to pursue a career in the fashion industry. During this time, Gottlieb underwent gender transition and further developed cosmetics and drag performance skills. Gottlieb earned a degree in product development from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. Gottmik is recognized for makeup artistry work with notable clients including Cindy Crawford, Todrick Hall, Paris Hilton, Heidi Klum, Adam Lambert, French Montana, and Tinashe. Gottlieb also contributed to makeup for Drag Race contestants such as Alaska Thunderfuck, Detox Icunt, Gia Gunn, Shangela, Violet Chachki, and Willam Belli. Gottlieb’s work has been featured in publications like Flaunt, Nylon, and Paper. In 2020, Gottmik completed Lil Nas X’s Halloween makeup when he dressed as Nicki Minaj. Gottlieb also handled makeup for celebrities featured in Taylor Swift’s 2019 music video for “You Need to Calm Down.”
In 2021, Gottmik became the first trans man to compete on RuPaul’s Drag Race, appearing in the thirteenth season. Gottmik placed in the top four, sharing 3rd/4th place with Rosé. Gottmik achieved two challenge wins during the season, specifically in the ball and Snatch Game, where the performance as Paris Hilton was featured. Following this, Gottmik entered into talent management with Voss Events. Gottmik participated in the Drive ‘N Drag Saves 2021 tour, a COVID-19 pandemic-compliant drive-in drag show across the United States. Gottmik subsequently joined the Voss’ 2022 European tour, RuPaul’s Drag Race Werq the World. In October 2021, Gottmik performed in Voss Event’s Night of the Living Drag Halloween tour alongside fellow drag race alumni Violet Chachki, Alyssa Edwards, Aquaria, Jaida Essence Hall, Kandy Muse, Plastique Tiara, Rosé, and Kim Chi.
In April 2024, Gottmik returned to compete on the ninth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars. Gottlieb launched a YouTube channel in January 2021, and in September 2021, initiated the podcast and YouTube series “No Gorge” with Violet Chachki, focusing on fashion, life, and artistry. Gottmik was featured on the cover of Attitude magazine’s April Style issue in 2021. Gottmik was considered for the role of Pinhead in the 2022 Hellraiser remake. In September 2022, Gottmik appeared in the music video for Sam Smith and Kim Petras’ song “Unholy” with Violet Chachki. Gottlieb released the debut book “The T Guide” on May 16, 2023, co-written with Gigi Gorgeous, discussing trans experiences and gender expression.
