Grant Williams

Grant Williams is a professional basketball player for the Charlotte Hornets, recognized for his contributions on the court and his leadership within the National Basketball Players Association. After establishing himself as a prominent collegiate athlete with back-to-back SEC Player of the Year honors at the University of Tennessee, Grant Williams went on to be drafted into the NBA. During his time with the Tennessee Volunteers, Williams earned All-Southeastern Conference (SEC) honors three times, recognizing his exceptional performance across his freshman, sophomore, and junior years. He was notably awarded SEC Player of the Year for two consecutive seasons in 2017–18 and 2018–19, a distinction that had not been achieved since 1995.

He successfully completed his degree in business from Tennessee in just three years. Williams was subsequently drafted 22nd overall by the Boston Celtics in the 2019 NBA draft, signing a four-year, $11.8 million rookie-scale contract. He made his professional debut on October 23, 2019, and earned his first career start on December 4, 2019. Over his tenure with the Celtics, Williams consistently improved his statistical averages, achieving career-best numbers during the 2021–22 NBA season with 7.8 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.

Most recently, Williams was traded to the Charlotte Hornets on February 8, 2024, where he continued to contribute to the team. In November 2024, he sustained a season-ending injury to his right knee, marking a temporary pause in his on-court activities.
