A growing legend of baseball, Greg Allen is a professional outfielder who plays for the Major League Baseball (MLB)’s Pittsburgh Pirates. Since making his debut for the Cleveland Indians in 2017 he has also played for San Diego Padres and won hearts at the New York Yankees where he stole bases and took the extra base on any hit to the outfield.
Hailing from San Diego, California, Allen developed a love for baseball as a child. The baseball star attended San Diego State University where he played for the San Diego State Aztecs. In the 2013 season he played summer ball in the Cape Cod League before being drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the sixth round of the 2014 MLB draft.
Allen was first promoted to the Major Leagues in September 2017, and the following year enjoyed many firsts including his first career walk-off home run against the Houston Astros and a base hit against the Boston Red Sox in the bottom of the 11th inning. After a stint with San Diego Padres, Allen became a New York Yankee in January 2021, and was promoted to the big team where he played 15 games before being claimed off waivers by the Pittsburgh Pirates. With his ability to hit for contact, his defense and his speed, Allen should see plenty of playing time for the Pirates.
