Croatian water polo player Hrvoje Benic plays for both his national team and for club VK Jug Dubrovnik, and competed at the 2019 World Championships.
Before making his debut as a senior player, Benic was already on the path to a great international career. He started out playing in junior competitions, and was part of the winning team at the 2009 FINA Under 18 World Championship. This set him up to become one of the most sought after players on the scene today, with his first Croatian Cup win in the 2014/2015 season. Since then he has played countless matches with his team including in the Croatian Champions League, the Croatian Championship, the Super Cup and the Regional League. Alongside his successful club career, Benic has also represented his country at global competitions. He was part of Croatia’s team at the 2019 World Championships held in South Korea, and took home a bronze medal at the tournament. He was also selected to play at the 2020 European Water Polo Championship held in Budapest where he and his team narrowly missed out on the podium, coming in fourth place after a series of strong performances.
Most recently Benic played at the European Champions League with VK Jug, as well as at the 2020 World League and the 2020 European Championships with his beloved national team. The defender looks set to remain at the top of his game.
