Hrvoje Benic

Hrvoje Benic is a Croatian water polo player known for his defensive role and contributions to both club and national teams, highlighted by his participation in international championships. After contributing to Croatia’s victory at the 2009 FINA U20 Water Polo World Championship, Hrvoje Benic established himself as a formidable defensive player, primarily operating as a right-handed center back. He began his professional journey with VK Jug, one of Croatia’s leading water polo clubs, playing from 2008 to 2014. During this foundational period, Benic solidified his strategic play and defensive prowess, laying the groundwork for a distinguished international career.

Following his initial tenure with VK Jug, Benic expanded his experience by joining Sportul Studentesc Bucharest for the 2014-2015 season. He then returned to VK Jug in 2015, where he played for seven consecutive seasons until 2022. A pivotal highlight of this period was Benic’s instrumental role in securing the 2015–16 LEN Champions League title with VK Jug in 2016, a testament to his elite performance in top-tier club competitions. Benic’s career progression continued with significant contributions to the Croatian national team.

In 2019, he represented Croatia at the FINA World Championships, where his defensive expertise was key in helping the team secure a bronze medal. His consistent performance and strategic understanding of the game have ensured his sustained presence at the highest echelons of professional water polo, spanning both elite club and international national team duties. Since 2022, Hrvoje Benic has been a crucial member of Waspo 98 Hannover.
