Hugo Boucheron

Born on May 30, 1993, in Lyon, France, Hugo Boucheron embarked on his rowing journey at the age of nine. He quickly demonstrated talent in the sport, leading to his participation in competitive rowing events. His early career included significant achievements, such as winning a silver medal at the 2011 World Rowing Junior Championships in the double sculls category. This early success set the foundation for his future international career.

Boucheron’s career progressed with consistent performances at national and international levels. He made his Olympic debut at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, competing in the men’s double sculls. A pivotal moment came in 2018 when he partnered with Matthieu Androdias. Together, this partnership proved highly successful, leading to a gold medal in the double sculls at the 2018 World Rowing Championships in Plovdiv and another gold at the 2018 European Rowing Championships in Glasgow. Their collaboration culminated in an Olympic gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 (held in 2021) Summer Olympics in the men’s double sculls, solidifying his status as an elite athlete. He was also recognized as the World Rowing Rower of the Month in September 2021 following his Olympic triumph.

Continuing his strong performance, Boucheron secured another World Championship gold medal in the double sculls at the 2022 World Rowing Championships in Racice, again with Matthieu Androdias. He has remained a prominent figure in French rowing, consistently competing in various World Rowing Cups and Championships. His sustained presence at the top level of the sport highlights his dedication and skill.
