Ian Harvie is an American actor, comedian, and writer recognized for his roles in “Transparent” and “Mistresses,” who also performs stand-up comedy focusing on his experiences as a trans man. After launching his professional stand-up comedy career in January 2002 in Portland, Maine, and expanding to Boston three months later, Ian Harvie relocated to Los Angeles in June 2006. His profile significantly rose in November 2006 when he began touring globally as the opening act for comedian Margaret Cho. He became a permanent cast member of her off-Broadway burlesque comedy revue, ‘Margaret Cho’s The Sensuous Woman.’ He toured extensively with Cho from October 2006 to October 2009.
In April 2007, he produced and hosted ‘The Ian Harvie Show’ at Largo, a Los Angeles music and comedy club, featuring LGBTQ guests. Television appearances included Logo’s ‘Wisecrack Outlaugh Festival on Wisecrack’ in 2007, and Logo’s ‘One Night Stand Up’ Episode 6 and ABC’s ‘Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen’ in 2009. In November 2009, Harvie commenced his solo headlining career with his one-man show, ‘Parts Sold Separately,’ exploring themes of sex and gender. It was featured at the Melbourne International Comedy Arts Festival in April 2010.
He performed ‘Balls OUT with Ian Harvie’ at SF SketchFest in San Francisco in January 2011. Harvie also executive produced the Maine Comedy Festival in 2011. His one-hour comedy special, ‘May The Best Cock Win,’ streamed on Starz and Seeso in 2016. Transitioning to acting, Harvie established a presence in television.
