Ian Hecox

Ian Hecox is an American YouTuber, comedian, filmmaker, and actor, recognized as the co-founder of the online comedy enterprise Smosh, with a career spanning over nearly two decades in digital content creation. After co-founding the online comedy enterprise Smosh in 2002 and launching its hugely successful YouTube channel in 2005, Ian Hecox established himself as a pioneering force in digital content creation. The channel quickly gained traction, with its early lip-sync videos, including a Pokémon Theme video that amassed over 24 million views and became the most-viewed YouTube video globally for a period. Shifting to original sketch comedy, Hecox and co-founder Anthony Padilla created iconic series such as ‘Food Battle’ and ‘If It Were Real,’ driving Smosh to become the most-subscribed YouTube channel on three separate occasions.

Following Anthony Padilla’s departure from Smosh in 2017, Hecox took on increased leadership, guiding the channel and becoming more involved in its business operations. After Defy Media’s shutdown in 2018, Smosh found a new home in 2019 under Rhett & Link’s Mythical Entertainment.
