The outstanding, history-making equestrian Isabell Werth is a dressage rider, who holds the record for the most Olympic medals won by any equestrian athlete. She has competed at six Olympic Games, winning twelve medals, including seven Golds. She is also a 9x World Champion, a 21x European Champion, and a 5x World Cup Champion.
Born and raised in Germany, Werth began riding at a young age, and was soon winning competitions and events at junior level. She took part in her first European Championships in 1989, winning Gold in team dressage. Since then she has racked up an incredible 25 medals, 21 of which are Gold, at the European Championships. Her World Cup medal tally is 13 medals, all in individual dressage, which includes five Golds, while her achievements at the World Championships is a remarkable nine Golds and three Bronzes.
Werth has also competed at an amazing six Olympic Games throughout her illustrious career: Barcelona 1992, Atlanta 1996, Sydney 2000, Beijing 2008, Rio 2016, and Tokyo 2020. She took part in team and individual dressage, winning six team Golds and one individual Gold, as well as five individual Silvers. Her most recent medals coming at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics where she won team Gold and individual Silver.
