Isaura Maenhaut van Lemberge was born on December 24, 1998. Her sailing career began in the Optimist class, where she competed in European and World Championships at a youth level. She then advanced to the Laser 4.7 class, securing a Belgian championship title. In 2015, Maenhaut earned a bronze medal at the Youth World Championships held in Medemblik. Following this, she achieved another Belgian championship in the Laser Radial category. Her early career also included two-person competitions in the Nacra 15 boat alongside Henri Demesmaeker, earning a bronze medal at the 2016 Youth World Championships in Auckland. After a year in the Nacra 17, she transitioned to the 49er FX class.
Maenhaut formed a partnership with Anouk Geurts in 2018. The duo competed in the 2020 World Championships, finishing 31st. They secured their qualification for the 2020 Summer Olympics at the 2021 Lanzarote sailing competition, ultimately achieving a 14th-place finish in Tokyo. Their career progression continued with a 4th-place finish at the 2023 World Championships in The Hague, which secured their spot for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. In 2024, Maenhaut and Geurts achieved a notable milestone by winning the 49er FX European Championships in La Grande-Motte, France. Throughout her career, Isaura Maenhaut has consistently represented Belgium in international sailing competitions, demonstrating sustained performance and career development in the sport.
Maenhaut resides in Merelbeke and is pursuing studies in nautical sciences, balancing her academic commitments with her professional sailing career. Her dedication to the sport has been recognized with awards such as the Young Sailor of the Year in 2015 and the Sailing Team of the Year in 2019, both from Belgian Sailing.
