United States Jack Ford has successfully navigated a career from prosecutor and trial attorney to an Emmy and Peabody Award-winning journalist and legal analyst, sharing his insights across various television networks and academic institutions.
Began his television news career in 1984 as a legal analyst with WCBS-TV in New York.
In 1991, he was an original anchor at the launch of Court TV. He later returned to Court TV (now truTV) in June 2004.
He was approached by NBC to become their legal commentator, starting on the Today Show. Joined as Chief Legal Correspondent in 1994, reporting for NBC Nightly News, The Today Show, and Dateline NBC. Also served as co-anchor for The Weekend Today Show.
Joined ABC News in September 1999, becoming a correspondent for 20/20 and Good Morning America. He was also part of ABC's 'ABC 2000 Today' millennium coverage in Times Square.
Hosted 'The Sports Reporters II' from 2002-2003. Since 2018, he has served as a college football analyst, calling Ivy League football games.
Since 2009, he has been a CBS News Legal Analyst. He was also the Legal Analyst and Correspondent for '60 Minutes Sports'.
Visiting Lecturer at Yale University since 2007, teaching an undergraduate seminar titled 'Trials of the Century'.

Jack Ford grew up in Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey, raised by a single parent. He attended Point Pleasant Beach High School before graduating from Yale University, where he played collegiate football. He financed his legal education at Fordham University School of Law by winning three games on the television quiz show “Jeopardy!”. Following law school, Ford served for three years as a prosecutor in New Jersey. He then transitioned into private practice, where he became a recognized trial attorney, handling high-profile cases, including the Northeast’s first death penalty trial and one of the nation’s first corporate homicide cases. Early in his career, he also served as an adjunct professor of law at Fordham Law School.

Ford returned to Court TV (now truTV) in June 2004, co-hosting “Banfield & Ford: Courtside.” Since 2009, he has served as a CBS News Legal Analyst and has been a Visiting Lecturer at Yale University since 2007, teaching a seminar titled “Trials of the Century.” He also taught this course at New York University in 2019. Since 2018, he has worked as a college football analyst for ESPN, covering Ivy League games.
