Born on December 27, 1997, in Perth, Western Australia, Jack Robinson began surfing at the age of three. His family later relocated to Margaret River, Western Australia. By age 11, Robinson was already surfing large waves at Banzai Pipeline in Hawaii. His early talent garnered media attention, and at 13, he was featured on the cover of The Weekend Australian Magazine as a potential future surfing legend. In 2012, at 14, Surfer Magazine’s annual Hot 100 junior list ranked him #1, signaling his emerging career in professional surfing. Robinson married Brazilian professional model Julia Muniz in 2020, and the couple announced their first child in 2023.
Robinson’s professional career began with junior and qualifying series wins. He claimed the North Shore Surf Shop Pro Junior in 2014 and later secured victories at the WSL Qualifying Series Men’s Heroes de Mayo Iquique Pro in Chile (2018) and the Volcom Pipe Pro (2019). A significant turning point came in December 2019 when he won the Vans World Cup of Surfing at Sunset Beach, which secured his qualification for the 2020 World Surf League (WSL) Men’s Championship Tour (CT). He officially joined the World Surf League Men’s Championship Tour in 2021, marking his first season on the major circuit.
Since joining the Championship Tour, Robinson has achieved numerous competitive successes, demonstrating consistent performance and skill. He secured his first CT event victory at the Corona Open Mexico in 2021. The year 2022 was particularly notable, with back-to-back CT wins at his home event, the Margaret River Pro, and then at G-Land, Banyuwangi, Indonesia, contributing to his best WSL performance where he finished 3rd in the final rankings. In 2023, he continued his winning streak with victories at the Billabong Pro Pipeline and the SHISEIDO Tahiti Pro. The 2024 season saw him win the Hurley Pro Sunset Beach and the Margaret River Pro for a second time, culminating in a silver medal at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games and a 4th place finish in the 2024 WSL Finals. His achievements were recognized with the Australian Surfing Awards, where he was crowned surfer of the year twice, in 2020 and 2021.
