Colby Jones

Colby Everette Jones was born on May 28, 2002, in Birmingham, Alabama. He established his basketball foundation in high school, first at Pinson Valley High School, where he averaged 23.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game as a sophomore. Following a coaching change, he transferred to Mountain Brook High School. During his junior year, playing alongside Trendon Watford, he contributed to the team’s third consecutive Class 7A state title. In his senior season, Jones assumed a central role, averaging 25.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 2.5 steals per game, leading Mountain Brook to a Class 7A runner-up finish. He was recognized as _Over the Mountain Journal_ Player of the Year, All-South Metro Player of the Year, and Alabama Class 7A Player of the Year. He committed to Xavier over offers from multiple Division I programs. His college career at Xavier began in the 2020-21 season, where he earned a spot on the Big East All-Freshman Team. The following season, he contributed to Xavier’s NIT championship victory in 2022, earning the NIT MVP title. In his final college season (2022-23), he was named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team.

Jones was drafted 34th overall in the 2023 NBA draft by the Charlotte Hornets. He was subsequently traded to the Sacramento Kings, where he spent his rookie and sophomore seasons, playing in 30 games during the 2023-24 NBA season and 39 games in the 2024-25 season. During these years, he was frequently assigned to the Stockton Kings of the NBA G League to further develop his skills. In February 2025, Jones was traded to the Washington Wizards, making 15 appearances for the team. Later that year, he was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder before being waived, and then signed a two-way contract with the Detroit Pistons. He briefly played for the Memphis Hustle of the NBA G League, and in July 2026, he signed with Manresa of the Liga ACB and the EuroCup, though this contract was terminated due to medical reasons.
