Jacob Vargas

Jacob Vargas earned significant early recognition by winning the inaugural ALMA Award for Emerging Artist of the Year in 1995, acknowledging his powerful contributions to Allison Anders’ Mi Vida Loca (1993) and Gregory Nava’s My Family (1995). Building a robust filmography, Vargas appeared in the TV movie The Children of Times Square (1986), followed by roles in Last Resort (1986), Ernest Goes to Camp (1987), The Principal (1987), and Little Nikita (1988). He continued to secure diverse roles into the early 1990s, including American Me (1992) and Gas Food Lodging (1992), showcasing his versatility from the outset of his professional career. Vargas later solidified his presence in critically acclaimed films such as Crimson Tide (1995), Get Shorty (1995), Selena (1997), and Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion (1997).
