Jacques Kallis

Jacques Kallis was born on October 16, 1975, in Pinelands, Cape Town, South Africa. His full name is Jacques Henry Kallis. He began his first-class cricket career in 1993/94 at the age of 18, playing for Western Province B. Kallis made his Test debut for South Africa in December 1995 against England in Durban. He also participated in his first Cricket World Cup in 1996.

Throughout his career, Kallis established himself as one of the most distinguished all-rounders in cricket history. By 2018, he was the only player to have achieved over 10,000 runs and 250 wickets in both ODI and Test cricket. His achievements include being named Leading Cricketer in the World in the 2008 Wisden for his 2007 performances, as well as receiving the ICC Test Player of the Year and ICC Player of the Year awards in 2005. He played a significant role in South Africa’s victory in the 1998 ICC KnockOut Trophy, where he was named Player of the Tournament. Kallis scored 13,289 runs in his Test career, took 292 wickets, and held 200 catches, accumulating 45 Test centuries. He retired from Test cricket in December 2013 and from all international cricket in July 2014.

Following his playing career, Kallis transitioned into coaching. He served as the coach for the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders. In December 2019, he was appointed as the batting consultant for the South African national cricket team. In August 2020, Kallis was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame, recognizing his impact on the sport.
