James Durbin

James Durbin is an American singer and guitarist recognized for his vocal talent and genre versatility, transitioning from a notable run on American Idol to fronting heavy metal bands and building a diverse music career. After gaining national prominence on the tenth season of American Idol in 2011, James Durbin went on to release his debut album, ‘Memories of a Beautiful Disaster,’ in November 2011, which debuted at number 36 on the Billboard 200. His acclaimed performances on the show, including a notable duet with Judas Priest, showcased his exceptional vocal range and passion for heavy metal music. Prior to his Idol run, Durbin had already established himself in professional theater, starring in productions such as ‘Grease’ and ‘Beauty and the Beast’ in 2006, and taking lead roles in ‘West Side Story’ and ‘Sweet Charity’ in 2007 with All About Theatre.

Durbin continued to build his solo heavy metal discography, releasing his second album under the ‘Durbin’ moniker, ‘Screaming Steel,’ in February 2024. Beyond his original recordings, Durbin frequently performs with a diverse array of tribute bands, underscoring his adaptability across genres. These include the popular 1980s tribute band Tainted Love, the yacht rock tribute band Mustache Harbor, and his own 1970s and 1980s tribute band, The Lost Boys, further cementing his reputation as a dynamic and multifaceted performer.
